Vision & Initial Proposal. During the summer of 2018, Overbrook West Neighbors Community Development Corporation submitted an application to the Philadelphia Department of Commerce Corridor Enhancement Grant Program. Our application was successful and we were awarded $25,000 to conduct a Master Plan of the Upper Lancaster Avenue Corridor – from 56th Street to 63rd Street. Boards illustrating the vision and boundaries for the corridor are provided in the slides below.
In addition to our work on the Upper Lancaster Avenue Master Plan, OWN, under the leadership of St. Rep. Morgan Cephas and with the guidance of Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr. and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell, participated in helping to secure funding to conduct a Master Plan for Tustin Playground. That work, also being led by SALT Design Studio, is expected to begin soon.
Meet & Greet. On Thursday, May 2 @ 6:30 p.m., 25 Overbrook neighbors met with Overbrook West Neighbors Board of Directors, members of the Upper Lancaster Avenue Corridor Steering Committee and representatives of SALT Design Studio to get to know each other and to better understand the purpose and goal of the Upper Lancaster Avenue Master Plan.
Community Conversation. On Tuesday, May 28 @ 6:30 p.m., 35 Overbook neighbors again met at Tustin Playground with Overbrook West Neighbors Board of Directors, members of the Upper Lancaster Avenue Corridor Steering Committee and representatives of SALT Design Studio to review preliminary data regarding the Upper Lancaster Avenue Corridor Master Plan. Survey data collected was presented in board format. Samples of those boards are provided below.
FINAL Community Conversation. A 3rd and final Community Conversation is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 @ 6:30 p.m. at Tustin Playground, 5901 W. Columbia Avenue (enter on the 60th Street side.) Notices regarding this event will be distributed via OWN’s Facebook page, Next Door and via OWNMAIL, our email newsletter. As with other meetings, materials shared during the community conversation will be posted below. All Overbrook stakeholders are invited to attend and encouraged to actively participate.
