59th Street Bridge Replacement Project

59th Street Bridge
The 59th Street Bridge was built in the 1920s and provides a connection between the Overbrook and Wynnefield neighborhoods in West Philadelphia, crossing over the Amtrak and SEPTA regional rail lines. To ensure its safety, the City will replace the bridge with a structurally sound and visually pleasing bridge that meets the needs of all transportation users (motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists). The bridge will also be constructed in a way that minimizes disruption to bridge users and the surrounding communities. This project has been postponed for some time. The Fact Sheet is dated December 2020. For more information on the 59th St. Over Amtrak Bridge Replacement Department of Streets project, please email [email protected]
